Breast Reconstruction

Dr. Elzinga is fellowship-trained in microsurgery and breast reconstruction.  She offers all forms of breast reconstruction.  Most often she performs reconstruction using the patient’s own tissue.  The most common tissue used is from the abdomen and is called the deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap.  Dr. Elzinga can also take tissue from other areas of the body such as the buttocks or lower back.  The options include:

Cosmetic Surgery

Dr. Elzinga is committed to helping patients achieve their goals using safe and meticulous surgical techniques.

Craniofacial Surgery

Dr. Elzinga performs surgery to repair facial fractures, including fractures of the:

  • Mandible (jaw)

  • Orbit (eye socket)

  • Zygoma (cheekbone)

Hand and Wrist Surgery

Microsurgery

 

Dr. Elzinga has completed a fellowship in microsurgical reconstruction.  She uses microsurgical techniques to perform breast reconstruction, upper and lower limb reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, reconstruction of cancer defects, and facial reanimation.

Peripheral Nerve Surgery

 

Dr. Elzinga collaborates with physicians from neurosurgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, and orthopedic surgery to care for patients with peripheral nerve injuries.
